In 1961, a factory that manufactured industrial rubber products and bicycle tubes branded "HARTEX" was set up in the SSI Unit at Howrah (West Bengal) in the name of Kemrub Private Limited. Over the years, as business grew, the facility was restructured to focus on bicycle tubes given the vast scope in the Indian marketplace.

In 1981 Hartex switched over to manufacture of Industrial Rubber Products and finally to the manufacture of Bicycle Tubes branded "HARTEX" in the SSI Unit at Howrah (West Bengal) in the name of Kemrub Private Limited.

Having grown over time, another industrial unit  in the name of Hartex Rubber Pvt. Ltd. (HRPL) was set up in 1987 in Andhra Pradesh near Hyderabad with a production capacity of 2.4 Million Bicycle Tyres and 0.6 Million molded Tubes per annum. This unit commenced commercial production in record time and its product carrying the "HARTEX" brand name was established in the market as synonymous with superior quality and reliability.

Today this group has consolidated and grown with factories located at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (Hartex Rubber Private Limited) and Nagpur, Maharashtra (Hartex Tubes Private Limited).  Hartex produces top quality Bicycle Tyres and Tubes and has built up an impeccable reputation for unmatched workmanship.

Over time the facilities at the factories have been upgraded substantially and presently stand at:
18 Million Bicycle Tyres (60% Cotton/40% Nylon)
15 Million Bicycle Molded Tubes
18 Million Bicycle Jointed Tubes
3 Million Bicycle Butyl Tubes

Together, HRPL’s product mix generates an estimated turnover of over US $40 million per annum

This remarkable growth has been possible due to the excellent teamwork and total involvement of the promoters, namely Shri B. D. Sureka, Late Shri B. K. Bagla and Shri Arun Kumar Sureka who have transformed the family-owned and family-run business into a professionally managed organization with a highly skilled and committed team.
